HistoryAR Lunn Transport & Warehousing Ltd is a family business, founded by Andrew Richard Lunn in 1983. Andrew's father, T.B Lunn was operating a haulage business, running approximately 10 articulated units, based in their home town of Beverley, East Yorkshire. Andrew started work for his father but it soon became apparent that he needed to be more independent! At age 18, Andrew purchased his first vehicle, a Bedford TK (registration number PMS 118T) which he drove himself. The main work for this vehicle consisted of multi-drop deliveries throughout the UK, predominantly London and the south coast. It was painted in the light blue/white with a red chassis, livery, which the company still maintains today. At 21, having passed his Class 1 HGV license, Andrew then bought his first articulated vehicle, a Volvo (YRH 104X). The business gradually expanded from thereon, with the addition of two more articulated vehicles and at this time a move into Hull was taken, as the premises in Beverley had been outgrown. As a result, Andrew acquired a small portacabin at North Gap on King George Dock in Hull. In 1995 part of the present Century Road Terminal site was acquired and, following a steady rate of growth and development, including adjacent warehousing, the site has developed to approximately 7.5 acres. Also in 1995 Andrew’s wife Linda joined the business. Linda’s initial involvement was to cover maternity leave but she has been there ever since! Today the business currently employs approximately 150 personnel, including a driver who has been with the company over 20 years. The company now operates a mixed articulated fleet of 102 units, the majority of which are 6 X 2, operated at 44 tonnes. The company retains its family values of service and reliability. Andrew still has a very active role in the business and takes a personal interest in each and every customer. Having successfully celebrated 25 years of trading, AR Lunn is now ideally placed to move forward as an industry market leader and service provider. As part of the company’s 25th anniversary celebrations, and in conjunction with Volvo’s 80th anniversary, AR Lunn purchased a Silver Volvo 460 XL Globetrotter with a unique livery and the registration Y25 ARL. This unit has been named Andrew Richard after the company founder. |
